As
stated
on
Draft
EIR
page
3-8,
the
portions
of
the
Baylands
west
of
the
rail
corridor
was
filled
with
demolition
rubble
from
the

earthquake.

The
former
Brisbane
Landfill
ceased
accepting
solid
wastes
in
1967,
which
is
often
referred
to
as
the
date
that
the
landfill
“closed.”
When
the
landfill
closed
down
operations
and
ceased
accepting
municipal
solid
waste
in
1967,
modern
rules
for
its
formal
closure
were
not
in
place.
Thus,
the
former
landfill
has
never
undergone

,
as
is
now
required.
As
stated
on
Draft
EIR
page
3-8,
following
cessation
of
operations
in
1967,
the
area
was
buried
with
a
20-
to
30-foot
cover
of
soil.
The
area
on
top
of
that
cover
has
been
used
for
soil
and
construction
material
recycling
since
the
1980s.
